On May 19, 2025, as part of the Year of Skilled Professions, with the goal of developing early career guidance and implementing modern educational technologies, the "PrintLab" profile class for the specialty "Publishing" was ceremoniously opened at a general education school in Almaty Region, Alatau City, Zhanaarna District, School No. 9. This is an educational project aimed at training future specialists in the fields of media, journalism, graphic design, and digital printing. "PrintLab" is a modern educational laboratory where students from grades 5-9 not only acquire theoretical knowledge but also gain practical skills in creating print and digital publications. The program is designed with age-specific considerations and includes essential skills for working with text and graphic editors, as well as the basics of journalism and editing. "In the context of digital transformation in education, it is crucial to teach children how to work with information and develop media literacy.
The "PrintLab" profile class will be an excellent platform for students to express their opinions and develop competencies that will be in high demand in the future," emphasized the school director, G. T. Rakhymbaeva.
The project is being implemented with the support of the Department of Education and in collaboration with professionals in the fields of publishing, equestrian sports, and media communications. Future plans include launching a school newspaper, participating in city-wide school media competitions, and hosting masterclasses with editors, designers, and journalists.
