On September 23, 2026, a formal meeting was held at Shanghai Publishing and Printing College between the delegation of the directors of colleges in Almaty and the leadership and teaching staff of the Chinese college. The meeting provided an important platform for discussing the further development of international cooperation in technical and vocational education, the expansion of academic exchange, and the joint training of highly demanded specialists.

One of the key issues discussed during the meeting was the importance of international academic mobility for students and teaching staff. The participants noted that the exchange of students and teachers creates opportunities to gain new professional experience, master modern technologies and educational practices, expand intercultural interaction, and develop international professional competencies. Particular attention was paid to expanding professional development and continuing education programmes for teachers. Joint internships, practice-oriented seminars, master classes, and the exchange of methodological practices are regarded as important resources for updating teachers’ professional and digital competencies and improving the quality of specialist training.

A strategic area of cooperation was identified as the joint training of specialists within the framework of a dual-degree programme with Shanghai Publishing and Printing College. To implement this initiative in practice, a working group is being established to coordinate the educational programme. As part of its work, the group plans to compare the content of training, professional competencies and learning outcomes, coordinate educational approaches, and determine mechanisms for the joint implementation of the programme. The participants attach particular importance to moving from traditional exchange of experience towards the joint design of educational content and the development of a unified professional environment. This format involves not only holding joint events but also systematic cooperation on educational programmes, digital resources, practical training, and the development of professional competencies among students and teachers.

An important result of the existing cooperation is the “BiShen Workshop”, established in 2023 at Printmedia Technology College. Today, the workshop serves as a joint educational and professional platform for practical training, exchange of experience, master classes, and the implementation of international initiatives in publishing and printing education. The next step will be the opening of the Kazakh-Chinese Competence Centre at Printmedia Technology College. The Centre is intended to become a permanent platform for joint specialist training, professional development of teachers, academic mobility, the introduction of modern technologies, and the implementation of international educational and professional projects.

The formal meeting confirmed the parties’ commitment to consistently strengthening their partnership and moving towards long-term joint initiatives. The key areas of future cooperation include joint specialist training, the development of academic mobility, the improvement of educational programmes, and the creation of conditions for international exchange of professional competencies. The meeting marked another step towards strengthening cooperation between the technical and vocational education system of Almaty and Shanghai Publishing and Printing College, with a focus on modern industry requirements and the prospects for the development of international vocational education.
